VICE PRESIDENT HEALTHCARE UNDERWRITING – CREDIT – $135K

Well established, growing and respected International banking and Finance Firm seeks a Vice President and Underwriter, with Healthcare experience to work in conjunction with the Middle Market Healthcare team on presentation of credit proposals to New York Branch and Head Office Credit Committees, the monitoring and review of performance of outstanding credits and in informing the New York Credit Committee of any changes in the underlying credit of borrowers.

The selected candidate will be responsible for initiating the underwriting process upon receipt of signed term sheet/required deposit and support/information package from RM and obtaining and analyzing necessary due diligence related information from sponsors and third parties, including market information, borrowing entity and structure, and financial statements. Additionally the desired candidate will prepare the Credit Application (CAP), maintain awareness of portfolio performance and identify potential risks with specific loans, and work with RMs to identify any potential credit issues pertaining to existing loans based on ongoing monitoring efforts. Responsibilities include obtaining and providing portfolio information to Credit Manager for preparation of portfolio sensitivity analysis as required, reviewing the dashboard Reports on a daily basis to identify and understand the nature of any upcoming maturities, and ensuring the timely completion of an amendment to the approved CAP upon a “handoff” package of information from the Relationship Manager. The RM shares responsibility with the Underwriter for primary accountability to review third party reports, address issues, challenge findings with vendors when appropriate, encourage third parties to deliver on time, and attend Credit Committee meetings with RM for presentation of CAP as needed.

Required Skills include three to four years relevant experience as a credit analyst in Middle Market Commercial Healthcare in a corporate banking environment and at least seven years middle markets banking experience. Advanced credit and financial analysis skills, with a focus on cash flow analysis and collateral assessments along with the ability to comprehend complex transactions, loan documentation and deal structure are necessary. The desired candidate will possess strong credit and cash flow analysis skills with complex, structured transactions, due diligence proficiency and detail orientation, and understanding specific knowledge of mission statement, target markets, loan policies and credit standards. Ability to exercise independent action and moderate decision making authority with properly documented risk mitigation applied and highly analytical, prudent, and thoughtful skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of Moody’s Risk Analyst and Risk Calc, along with ability to be task oriented, attentive to detail and able to meet time sensitive deadlines.
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Finance/Accounting/Economics preferred. MBA Desirable.
